And Tomorrow...
Every night the same dance,
removing things from pockets--
Burt's Bees and Kleenex--
belt clinking, pants off,
setting aside the same undershirt
for tomorrow
while you put it all away in
the basket, rumpled.
Then underpants.
We meet in the hallway, honest.
And forget it all in the shower's steam
as we rinse today from our skin
in favor of sleep
And tomorrow.

The Truth is Beautiful...
This is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. I seem to be doing a lot of crying these days. Hrm...PostSecret: Confessions on Life, Death and God from Frank Warren on Vimeo.
But really, watch it. And if it's having trouble loading, turn off the HD by clicking the "HD is on" icon that shows up when you hover over the video. I hope they make fifty more of these. How amazing.
What's my secret? Maybe I'll tell you some day. Maybe I already have.

Work work work...
All day long,
work work work
while I sing dis song...
Or something.
I'm at work all day. This will be my free time...all 15 minutes before I have to get in the shower. Boo. But!
The wedding this weekend was beautiful and I cried...a lot. I never cry at weddings, but this was one of my best friends. We were standing in the narthex (love that word, btw) of the church and trying to time everyone's entry just right, and right before Jenni went in, I just lost it. And then again at the vows...and again when they played Ben Folds's "The Luckiest." That's MY wedding song.
Oh, and again during the first dance when they were singing "Love Story" by Taylor Swift to each other.
But it was beautiful and wonderful and now it's over and they're married. Photos might follow.
And then we had our Thank God It's Over party for NaNoWriMo on Sunday. It was sufficiently crazy and fun. I ended up with a door prize of Tim Tams (looks them up...best cookie ever) and Best American Short Stories 1989. SWEET. I've been collecting that whole series, and I didn't have that one. And to think, someone brought it just to get rid of it! At the end, I agreed to be a co-ML next year for NaNo. SCARY!
A few of us ended up at The Annex, a bar in town I'ven ever been to. Apparently it's where all the art students go. I was never an art student (or a student at NIU in anything, for that matter). It's also apparently DeKalb's unofficial gay bar. Huh. Who knew. So we chatted and laughed some more. It was a great time!
Today, though...work all day. And the boy has Villa...so he won't be home until way late. Boo hiss.

Weekend Greetings...
I won't be around much this weekend. Tonight I have a wedding rehearsal and dinner for my friend Jenni's wedding. Robb and I are ushers. Then tomorrow is the wedding. And Sunday is the Thank God It's Over party for NaNoWriMo. Woot.
My stomach just made a really weird noise...like a gremlin squawk. Eww.
Anygross, that's the story this weekend. Anyone want to see a stupid internet video? It's Lady Gaga...sort of...
It's a lot funnier if you've seen the real video.

It Is Upon Me...
There is a discernible moment every year when the Christmas spirit come flying out of a dark alley and tackles me before dragging me back into the darkness to have its way with me. That was today.
I walked in to work and the bank was decorated for Christmas. I smiled and plugged in the lights. And them when I looked out the window and snow was falling down, I smiled and clapped. It was a fairly gay moment; I'm not gonna lie. But short of squealing (Did I squeal? I might have squealed, now that I think about it...), it was the point at which the Christmas spirit snagged my drawers from behind and gave me a Christmas wedgie!
After work, I drove over to *unspecified location because the boy reads my blog* and I bought one of the *unspecified item because the boy read my blog* that I knew he would just love--oh, I just remembered I never hid it in my room. I'd better go do that before I forget.
*rummages....rummages...returns*
Okay. It's hidden. He's not a snooper, but I would hate for him to accidentally find it before I give it to him. ANYwho...
Walking into *deleted* and buying *deleted* really made me feel all Christmas-like and warm. It is time! It's almost here! And holy shit I have a lot of shopping to do before then.
For now, though, I'll just smile at the gently falling snow and pretend I won't be cursing while I scrape the perma-frost from my windshield later.
